Beletich Associates will manage lites.asia, an APP project aimed at facilitating a greater involvement by Asian countries in the development of IEC standards, and encouraging harmonisation of lighting standards.
Although it is recognised that most Asian countries have a commitment to adopting international IEC standards, in many cases these standards are subsequently changed to suit local conditions. This jeopardises global harmonisation efforts and results in potential barriers to trade.
The objective of lites.asia is to facilitate a greater involvement by Asian / APEC countries in the development of IEC standards. This should result in standards which are more appropriate for regional needs, thus enabling Asian / APEC countries to adopt IEC specifications with minimum local variations.
